The Hallett Family

The Hallett family derives from Howard & Pam Hallett who both grew up in the West Country, but moved to London in the 1950’s to start, what was to be, their large family of 8 children - Caroline, Phillipa, Rosalind, Richard, Martyn, Adrian, Jenny & Simon.   Howard’s mother “Granny” (who lived in Bridgwater and bought the Dunster Chalet in 1936) also moved to Ealing, London and lived in the house in Madeley Road with the growing family.

In 1988, with their children grown up, Howard and Pam moved to Uxbridge.  After 25 years in Uxbridge, and 8 years after Howard Hallett died in 2005, Pam moved to Bedford in 2013 to live near Martyn in sheltered accomodation.    In May 2015, Pam celebrated her 90th Birthday at the largest Hallett get-together ever, which was held in Ealing and included not only her own children, but also her 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her health deteriorated a few weeks later and she died on 9th August 2015 after just a few days in Bedford Hospital.  Well-attended memorial services for her were held in both Beford and Ealing.

The Dunster Chalet has been owned by the Hallett Family now for over 85 years and and we are looking forward to the next 78 years of ownership....till 2100.
